ANSTY VILLAGE CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE

4.30 PM, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22ND   2024

IN THE COMMANDERY

This year our traditional Annual Carol Service will be held in the ancient Commandery building adjacent to St. James’ Church by kind permission of the owners, Kate and Jean-Marc.

Musical accompaniment will be provided by our organist, Sally Hayter.

You are all warmly invited to stay afterwards for seasonal refreshments. Talking of warmth, it would be a good plan to wear warm clothing and bring a torch!

We are very fortunate to be able to have the Carol Service in the wonderful, atmospheric Commandery, a fitting location for what we hope will be a happy village occasion as we start our Christmas celebrations.

The reason for this location is that from Monday, 25th November 2024, St James’ Church will be closed for six months whilst our contractor works on essential repairs, required by the architect following our five-yearly inspection.

The PCC is also pleased to reveal that an important expert will be working on the tiled floor, to make it good, reconstruct and refresh the existing Victorian tiles.

As custodians of the Grade II church, this project is our gift to the village for future generations. The designs and plans will be on display for all to see at the Carol Service.

The total cost to the PCC of this important project is £80.000, which includes £25.000 towards the expert repair of the tiled floor.

We would be very grateful for any donations that you could contribute to the Fabric Fund to help to preserve our iconic parish church.

Ansty parishioners always receive a warm welcome at St Peter’s Church in Swallowcliffe. Christmas celebrations there are:

Christmas Eve:  10.00 pm   Christmas Communion

Christmas Day:  11.15 am   Christmas Day Family Service

Christmas Day Eucharist in Tisbury parish church is at 9.30 am.
